Round two, here we go…
I wrote up a bit about my first proof ordering attempt for Duck and Dive in a previous blog post. Since then I’ve adjusted the font sizing, line spacing, spacing around section breaks, page breaks, internal and external margins, and the design of the spine.
I made these changes to the Duck and Dive proofs, and pulled through everything I learnt to the paperbacks for Slip and Slide and Over and Out. After that I ordered copies of each to check I was happy with the changes.
Two weeks later the real-life books arrived at my real-life front door, and I was pleased to find everything was looking as I’d hoped! It’s pretty bloody cool to hold copies of my books in my hands, let me tell you.
So, what’s next? Well, hitting the big red button to publish them! And once they’re quietly lurking on retailer websites, I’ll do one last check by ordering a couple of copies myself from various places to check everything is working and still looking good. Then, I’ll tell everyone about it 😊
If you want to be sure not to miss when they’re ready to go, jump on my mailing list which is the most reliable place for me to get the word out (plus, you get a couple of exclusive short stories for free).
