I’d love your thoughts! I’ve decided to update my first two book covers because I don’t think they communicate well what they’re about – they’re not genre-appropriate. I realised I needed to better signal to potential readers what they might find inside.

My target genres include:

• Gay
• Comedy
• Romance
• Contemporary.

I’ve pulled together some comparison titles (and their genres). This is what I’m aiming for, what I’m aiming to be seen alongside:

With these in mind, consider my updated book covers below which are a work in progress. I’ve included the current versions for comparison.

My question is: do you think I’m hitting the target genres with my updated covers? As in, do you have an idea of the type of book they are, and do they fit with the comparison titles?

Note: I’ve kept the covers small because that’s what people will see when zooming through Amazon. Also, my biggest focus is the first book (Duck and Dive) because that’s what will be getting splashed around the most.
