What?
A series of free live online workshops and interviews covering writing, editing, publishing, marketing, and promotion, with a particular focus on crime fiction.
Who?
ProWritingAid are running the Crime Writers’ Week, and they’ve brought on a great bunch of authors, editors, and other industry experts to present the sessions.
It’s free and open to everyone to attend – you just have to register to nab a spot.
When?
Monday 17 – Friday 21 June 2024.
There are multiple sessions that run throughout each day, usually about an hour each. Attend one session, or attend them all.
I’m always the most engaged when I attend these kinds of things live, but if there’s a session you really want to catch that doesn’t fit with your schedule, they usually make recordings available to watch for a few days afterwards.
Where?
It’s all online.
Register here and they’ll email you all the information you need, including links to join the sessions.
Why?
No matter whether you’re dipping your toe into writing crime fiction for the first time, you’re a well-established author, or you’re somewhere in between, I think you’ll find something.
In the past I’ve attended ProWritingAid’s weeks focusing on crime, romance, and fantasy. I’ve always taken something away, whether it’s something to improve my craft, to better connect with readers, to sell more books, or just to inspire me to get going, it’s all so worthwhile.
They’ve got over twenty sessions across the five days, so there’s bound to be something for you to get stuck into. Here’s that link again if you need it. Be sure to let me know how you get on if you check out some of the sessions!
Or, are you looking for something to read?
Well, it just so happens I’ve written some crime fiction myself – a delightful cosy mystery series set in an enchanting small town nestled amongst stunning New Zealand scenery.
Investigate The Milverton Mysteries for a chaotic cast of local busybodies, delicious baked treats, a demanding and disdainful ginger cat, a very slow-burn romance with a rather appealing policeman, and of course… murder!
