And on the third day of my bookish Advent calendar, we have one of my favourite cocktails – the sidecar!
The ever-dependable Wikipedia suggests the sidecar was invented around the end of WWI in London or Paris and is named for the motorbike attachment. Whatever its true origins are, one thing I do know is that it’s boozy, citrusy, and delicious.
Sidecar cocktail recipe:
- 2 parts cognac
- 1 part triple sec or Cointreau
- 1 part lemon juice
Shake with ice, strain, garnish with lemon twist.
Yum, but also, what’s this got to do with books? Well, I was introduced to the sidecar by Zachary Ezra Rawlins, the main character of one of my favourite books from last year, The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. So, I’m counting it!
Let me know if you give it a go 🍸
