I’ve just realised – a full month into the new year – that I didn’t even pick out my favourite books from last year when I did My 2020 reading recap (with charts!). This post aims to rectify that oversight…
I read so many great books last year! But I narrowed down my top five favourite reads of 2020 (listed in the order I read them):
- The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern
- The Fifth Season by N K Jemisin
- Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh
- Uprooted by Naomi Novak
- Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
They’re all exceptional books. And putting them together like this, there are some striking similarities that jump out immediately: all five being fantasy stories told by women. I can’t recommend these books enough and look forward to getting into more by these authors this year.
