A nice update on my work in progress and German Shepherd

After so much wet, windy, wild weather, today was comfortingly clear and crisp.

Daily Debrief: 23 April 2026

A Relatively Uneventful Evening poster. Hilarious new comedy by George Arthur. Directed by Phil White. Manawatu Theatre Society. Book at Globe Theatre website.

Output

Write: We hit 69% on the first draft of Killer on the Kelvin Explorer (The Milverton Mysteries #5) which was nice.

Promote: Prepared a few things for an upcoming pride book promo.

Input

Theatre: We’re off to see A Relatively Uneventful Evening this evening (theatre website).

Observe: A German Shepherd sitting in the front passenger seat of a lawn mowing van, patiently waiting for their driver to return.

Learn: How Harriet Tyce is plotting, planning, and scheming her new book, featuring background reading, a whiteboard, multiple screens, and a notebook (Instagram).

Listen: A recent episode of the Writers’ Routine podcast with Fergus Craig (show notes) discussing his latest release, I’m Not the Only Murderer in My Retirement Home, a cosy mystery about former serial killer Carol who must solve a murder at her retirement home (buy links).
