This story grew from a writing exercise designed to encourage the use of all the senses in your writing and to avoid leaning too heavily on one sense or another. We had to go for a walk and take a photo then describe that scene solely from the perspective of each sense: sight, sound, touch, smell, taste. And finally, combine everything into one description, but I couldn’t help adding a little narrative to my scene…
I made this story available to read for free on my website earlier this year (where it has its permanent home). But on this day, Day 14 of my bookish Advent calendar, I’ve shared it as a series of images. And at around 300 words long, it’ll only take a minute or so to read.
If you’d prefer to read, like, or share via the socials, you can find it on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
