Nine hours in the sun selling our wares was simultaneously energising and draining. I don’t know how regular market stallholders do it!

I had a great time at Wellington Pride Festival‘s Pride Parade fair on Saturday afternoon! I chatted to readers, gave away bookmarks, sold gay books, caught up with friends, took photos with readers and drag queens, and met lovely people who I’ve only ever spoken to online!

Wonderful fellow authors Marie Cardno and Aimee Donnellan were with me too. We had a fantastic time selling each others’ books…
- Oh, you’re interested in reading about a terrible, tentacled monster from another dimension who just wants to get herself a girlfriend? I am happy to recommend Marie’s Monster Girlfriend series for all your sapphic fantasy romcom needs!
- Or, perhaps you’re after fantasy adventure novellas set in a queernormative world? Check out the next stall – Aimee’s Catastrophe Incoming series might be just what you’re looking after!
- Downtown Abbey, but magic and gay? A.J. Lancaster isn’t here today, but we offered to bring along copies of A Rake of His Own, just in case readers wanted to grab a copy!
- Not your cup of tea? Did you say you liked a bit of mystery? Perhaps with a lovable, bumbling city boy who’s inexplicably got himself caught up in solving a small-town murder? With the added distraction of a rather hot investigating officer? And did I mention it’s set just up the road? The Milverton Mysteries might be what you’re looking for!

It was great to have the company between customers, and to hold the fort when we needed to take bathroom breaks and make food runs! Luckily we were well catered to with plenty of food trucks at the fair, including a delicious bakery stall right next to us!

After a full day, I packed up and dropped my things back at the accommodation, then did a quick change before meeting friends out at the FRISKY Fantasy Pride Parade afterparty for a well-deserved drink and dance!

Will I see you there next year?
