Cosy Mystery (a work in progress)

I haven’t even finished the first draft yet, but I’m almost there! I’ve given it a home on my website, and also discussed how I prepared for then wrote 50,000 words of the first draft in November.

And so, for Day 6 of my bookish Advent calendar, I’ve thrown together a quick blurb for the story I’m working on right now, the first book in the planned Milverton Mysteries series. Note, anything and everything is liable to change, but here’s what I’m thinking at the moment…

Book 1 of the Milverton Mysteries. A working blurb:

Set in Milverton, an imaginary tourist town in the Manawatū, a couple of hours north of Wellington, New Zealand.

Our main character, a city boy through and through, is summoned to the quiet community to settle an inheritance. He plans to be in and out, but then he finds the lawyer sorting out his great-uncle's estate has been murdered... And he's the #1 suspect.

The story features a chaotic cast of local townsfolk, banter, gossip, a snooty ginger tabby, and a rather appealing policeman...
