It was a full house at Wardini Books in Napier for our ‘Clues, Crime & Craft’ event last night! Bing Turkby and The Bookshop Detectives‘ Louise Ward warmed everyone up with a musical performance before Riley Chance and I joined the panel for a fun and free-flowing chat.

We discussed how we each started writing; the many, varied, and quite unlikely sources of our ideas and inspiration; the mystery genre; our respective series; the importance of our books’ settings; what’s involved in research; the creation of audiobooks; and a bunch more topics fuelled by audience questions.

We did get rather carried away and went well over time but I know I had a great time and I hope everyone else did too! The evening was a brilliant opportunity to catch up with local friends, make connections with other fellow authors (including literary heavy hitters in the audience, how intimidating!), and meet some wonderful readers.

A huge thanks to everyone who came along and to the Wardini Books team for promoting the event, keeping the shop open late, clearing space for us, putting on the wines, selling our books, and looking after us in general!
